Welcome >> What we believe >> Core
beliefs
1. We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible,
authoritative Word of God. His power has preserved the proper manuscripts
to insure us of having His Word. The best English-speaking Bible is
the Authorized King James Bible. It is the only one used here at Emmanuel
Church of Greenwood.
2. We believe that there is one God, the source, support, and end
of all things, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son &
Holy Spirit.
3. We believe in the special creation by God done in six literal
days of the creation week and in the Biblical record of history, including
the literal existence of Adam and Eve as the progenitors of all people,
the literal fall and resultant divine curse on the creation, and the
worldwide cataclysmic deluge, known as the Universal Flood.
4. We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ; in His virgin
birth; in His sinless life; in His miracles; in His vicarious and
atoning death; in His shed blood; in His bodily resurrection; in His
ascension to the Father's right hand; and in His personal, pretribulation,
premillennial return for His saints and with His saints at the revelation.
5. We believe that man is totally depraved, a sinner (lost) by nature,
and, therefore, in need of the converting and regenerating ministry
of the Holy Spirit.
6. We believe in the personality of Satan; in his power and kingdom;
in his wiles; in his judgment at the cross; and his eternal destruction
in Hell.
7. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit; that He
convicts the sinner; regenerates the one who believes; indwells, seals,
instructs, reproves, and guides the believer; that He fills and controls
every life that is wholly yielded to Him; however, we are not part
of the "charismatic" movement.
8. We believe that salvation is the gift of God offered to man by
His grace and received by personal repentance and faith in the Lord
Jesus Christ. It is by grace plus nothing minus nothing.
9. We believe in the security of the believer. Once saved, always
kept preserved by the power of God.
10. We believe upon conversion, one should follow the Lord in believer's
baptism (immersion only) and become a member of that Bible-believing
local church.
11. We believe in the bodily resurrection of the saved into "life"
and the unsaved unto "judgment" and everlasting damnation.
